Efteling Theme Park, Netherlands

I almost don’t want to write about Efteling as I don’t want more people to go! I feel like it’s our wonderful secret.
Anyhow, I will! We visited here last October half-term and had the most magical time. We arrived very late at night and on entering our apartment, realised that it was a special place: the kids rooms have storybooks and nightcaps to wear; little touches like an ‘Efteling’ tin you could take home. It had a very clean and well stocked kitchen and comfy beds.
In the morning, we woke to a misty day and after breakfast made our way over to the theme park. It really is the best in the world! A mix of modern, thrilling rides and an old fashioned magical fairytale forest. Many of the rides are suitable for little ones, including the snail monorail in ‘Laaf Village’ and the wonderful Jokie ‘Carnival Festival’ ride. Ed particularly loved the musical toadstools and the talking tree! He also loved going on the old-fashioned carousel with his Nan. I loved the museum about the park, it’s great that it has such history and you feel like you’re walking through a forest most the time.

The food, staff and facilities were all exceptional. We didn’t encounter one member of staff who wasn’t friendly, professional and helpful. The swimming pool in the village was great for the evenings for both kids and adults with the Jacuzzi overlooking the pool.
Overall, a wonderful magical experience and we’ll definitely be returning!
