Have we found the Gruffalo’s house?

One of Ed’s favourite things to do is finding sticks. So, a walk on Crickley Hill, Birdlip is ideal for us and I’d highly recommend it for other families.

We visited on a beautiful morning in April. It’s only a 15-minute drive from Cheltenham town centre and you really can ‘get lost’ in the woods. We did a circular walk encountering a few other young families and dog walkers.

We also encountered an interesting natural ‘pit’ area which held (what looked like!) the Gruffalo’s house. Actually, a den in the side of the pit which looks pretty precarious but is quite exciting for kids to play in!

The National Trust area is managed along with the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and has a variety of habitats and plants so you can go bird, insect or butterfly spotting and enjoy all the lovely flowers.

What a lovely local amble through the trees looking at wildlife, finding lots of sticks and getting some fresh air!
