Have anyone else’s thoughts turned to autumn? It’s one of my favourite times of the year – the Cheltenham Literature Festival! With the full programme for the October event being announced this coming Friday, we decided to have a look at what’s being offered for kids.
The festival is promising, ‘an action-packed family programme with the greatest storytellers and illustrators in the land set to inspire and entertain toddlers to teens.’ They are also promising loads of free family fun on site and around town too!
Highlights for young people may include storyteller Philip Pullman, Jacqueline Wilson and Michael Morpurgo. Anthony Horowitz is also visiting along with Olympic cyclist Chris Hoy who will introduce his action-packed series Flying Fergus.
There will be live storytelling and illustrating including an adventure with a girl, a bear and some very special shoes with Lydia Monks, the bestselling illustrator of Julia Donaldson’s What the Ladybird Heard stories.
There will be events for young people interested in history and dinosaurs including one with Dr Ben Garrod who, ‘will use the most interactive and inspiring science to reveal amazing dinosaur discoveries.’
We can’t wait to find out more! Further information can be found at cheltenhamfestivals.com. Booking for Cheltenham Literature Festival opens to Members online at 1pm on Wednesday 29 August and to the general public at 1pm online on Wednesday 5 September.
